What does a Data Engineer do?

A Data Engineer designs, develops, and maintains complex infrastructure that relates to the collection, storage, and analysis of humongous datasets. They also design and support the development of data pipelines that automatically extract from multiple sources, conduct transformation into a usable format, and then load into data warehouses or databases.

Data Engineers work on the development of scalable and efficient data pipelines. They look after the quality of the data, optimize data workflows, and work closely with Data Scientists and Analysts in providing data fit for analysis and making decisions based on them. Such a role is very critical in making data available, reliable, and primed for analysis in a large-scale system.
