THE STARTUP WITH A DELICIOUSLY LOCAL VISION
An app designed to help local restaurateurs, Scrumbly provides a platform for community restaurants to advertise in a way that both meets their budget and reacts to the needs of the current market.
With inflation outpacing wages, it’s tougher than ever for mom-and-pop shops to compete with conglomerates like McDonalds and Applebees. While the big chains continue to dump money into advertising their money-saving deals, local restaurants who can’t afford it are getting lost in the noise.
That’s where Scrumbly App comes in.
Because of the market, people are buying food from chain restaurants more and local restaurants less. I want to have the opposite effect by empowering local restaurants to get in front of customers.
Jackson Feldman, CEO of Scrumbly
By giving local restaurants a clear channel and making advertising more cost-effective, Scrumbly CEO Jackson Feldmon is leveling the playing field.
And, by charging per click, Scrumbly ensures local restaurateurs are only paying for effective ads.
In short, Scrumbly makes life a little more local and a lot more delicious.
In my opinion, you find the best food at local restaurants. These passionate chefs create great food and a welcoming environment for the community to come together as a group.

THE NEED FOR
EXTRA HANDS
As an entrepreneur with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Jackson never needed to learn how to code. He was more interested in building businesses than building apps.
That’s why he was able to see why local restaurants were struggling against their big-chain rivals. And, once he pinpointed the problem, he knew the solution: an app designed to support local restaurants.
But without a background in coding and development, Jackson could only dream up the plans – not bring them into reality. So when Jackson heard about Lemon.io on his favorite podcast, he seized the opportunity.
On my first call with Lemon, I was able to talk through what it would look like. During the conversation, I quickly realized, ‘hey, I’m not setting a developer up for success right now. I need to get some designs first.’

So, Jackson found a designer and ironed out the UX design.
With a design roadmap in hand, he knew his next step was to hire a dev to make his app a reality. Alongside Lemon.io, he considered Upwork. But while the lower hourly rate was tempting, he was worried about the quality of devs available on that platform.
Knowing he wasn’t able to effectively vet a hire himself, Jackson returned to Lemon.io to find the right dev.
I wanted someone who knew what they were doing and someone that I could trust. – someone that I could pretty much say, hey, I don’t know how to do any of this. I’m not going to be able to gauge your work. I will just be able to look at the final product and say if it’s good or not.

THE RESULTS
Lemon.io delivered Jackson a list of devs who could start working immediately.
His first match seemed solid, so Jackson hired him and set him to work. But, after a few weeks, the startup chemistry between the developer and Jackson waned. So, they parted ways. Learning from that experience, Jackson headed back to Lemon.io with more refined expectations.
And that’s when Jackson found and hired a new divine developer.
He saw the vision right off the bat and he was super excited about it, really wanted to get working on it. He’s been super upfront with me and really good with communicating and giving me expectations on how long things are going to take.
Jackson Feldman, CEO of Scrumbly
With a passionate dev building the app, Scrumbly is well on its way to launch – and helping Jackson’s local restaurant community flourish.
And a new developer? He’s super excited to be part of a project that is going to make a positive local change.
It’s become just as much of his project as my project, which is really cool.

With coming back to Lemon.io a few more times, Lemon.io became a go-to partner for Currents to build on their flawless product vision.
