How Much Do iOS Developers Charge?

When you’re building for iOS, you’re not just coding—you’re shaping the experience your users will remember every time they open your app. iOS developers are in constant demand, and the market reflects that reality: high standards, serious competition, and rates that follow skill and geography. Here’s how the current numbers stack up for iOS developer rates.

The Market Landscape: A Breakdown by Seniority

Middle-level iOS developers are concentrated in the core price band that defines today’s market: the overwhelming majority charge between $61 and $100 per hour. Only a small group—about 12%—are available for $41–60/hr, and those opportunities are drying up fast. More than half of mids are priced in the $61–80/hr range, with another third at $81–100/hr. A small but real share of mids go higher, pushing into $101–120/hr or above, usually thanks to advanced skills or experience in more expensive regions.

Senior iOS developers take this price curve even further. The largest group—about 43%—charge $61–80/hr, but just as many are available for $81–100/hr, and a significant cohort price themselves at $101–160/hr. If you’re after real leadership or complex feature delivery, nearly half of seniors expect $101+/hr. True bargains at the senior level are vanishingly rare, and for good reason: seasoned iOS developers know their value and deliver accordingly.

Strong senior iOS developers are few, but they’re the architects behind the best apps. Most are priced between $81 and $140/hr, with about half in the $81–120/hr zone. The rest are concentrated at $101/hr and up, with a select handful commanding $121–140/hr. This group is small for a reason—these are the people who’ve seen it all and can take your iOS product to the next level, fast.

The Global Talent Map: Regional Variation

The USA remains the largest single source of iOS talent, offering depth at every level—middles, seniors, and strong seniors alike. Germany, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the UK also contribute strong pools, especially for senior and lead roles. Eastern Europe, with Ukraine, Romania, and Poland out in front, provides a reliable mix of high-quality developers at competitive rates, typically in the $61–100/hr band.

Asia-Pacific isn’t far behind. Australia and New Zealand show up as consistent sources of both middle and senior talent, and developers from India, the Philippines, and Vietnam fill out the value segment. Africa and Latin America are present but smaller—most iOS hiring there still happens at the mid and senior levels, and the pools get thin fast as you move to the top end.

But here’s the truth—iOS is never cheap. The market rewards those with Swift, UI/UX, and architecture skills. No matter the region, if you want quality, you pay for it. If you want the lowest rates, expect to trade off on depth and speed.
