How Much Do Mobile Developers Charge?
Hiring a mobile developer means choosing who will shape your product’s heartbeat — your app. This market is packed with specialists in iOS, Android, and cross-platform tech, but rates cut along clear lines: skill, experience, and where your dev sits on the map. Here’s what the numbers actually show.
The Market Landscape: A Breakdown by Seniority
For middle-level mobile developers, most rates cluster in the $61–120/hr range. About 7% of mids can be hired for $41–60/hr, but that market is fading fast. The largest cohort — over a third — charge $81–100/hr, with nearly as many available at $61–80/hr. The rest move into premium territory: $101/hr or higher, usually for those bringing niche experience or operating in high-cost markets.
Senior mobile developers are split almost evenly between $61–100/hr and $101–160/hr. About 80% are available between $61 and $120/hr, with just a handful remaining at the lower end. At the top, roughly a third of seniors now charge $121/hr or above, reflecting deep experience, leadership skills, or a background in shipping flagship apps.
Strong senior mobile developers are the rarest group. Most are priced between $61–80/hr, and only a handful push up to $101/hr or above. If you want a technical lead who’s already launched complex apps, expect to pay at the upper end of the market.
The Global Talent Map: Regional Variation
Ukraine leads the pack for both middle and senior mobile developers, offering deep pools at competitive rates and a standout number of strong seniors. Canada, the USA, Brazil, Germany, and France provide the next biggest pools — especially for senior and technical lead roles. Argentina, Spain, and Chile also contribute a strong bench, while the UK, Poland, Israel, and Vietnam fill out the mid-range with reliable numbers at every seniority.
Australia and New Zealand are go-tos for teams working in Asia-Pacific time zones, with mids and seniors in steady supply. India, Nigeria, and South Africa supply cost-effective options, but the talent pool thins out quickly at the strong senior level.
You’re not going to find “cheap” in this market, and the few who do charge below $60/hr are outliers — usually from regions with a much lower cost of living, and almost never at senior or tech lead levels.
